IG Securities, the Japanese subsidiary of global brokerage IG Group, has announced it will discontinue its cryptocurrency ETF CFD services due to updated guidance from Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA).
The decision follows a revision to the FSA’s “Q&A Concerning Financial Instruments and Exchange Business” issued on October 31, 2025. The updated rules introduce stricter policies for the handling of crypto ETF CFDs. After conducting an internal review, IG Japan confirmed it would comply with the new regulations and halt the offering.
Starting December 1, 2025, IG Japan will stop accepting new orders for crypto ETF CFDs and cancel any pending orders at that time. Existing positions can still be closed after the cutoff, but all trading activity must be finalized by January 31, 2026. Any open positions not closed by clients will be forcibly liquidated at the closing price on that day.
IG emphasized that standard trading fees will still apply to both voluntary and forced settlements. All other products and services offered by IG Japan, aside from cryptocurrency ETF CFDs, will continue to operate as usual.
